Red-white plastic chain, 8 mm, by the metre

Red and white chain is the classic way to close off an area: a building site, an open trench on the pavement, a car park entrance or a pedestrian lane. The V1-80RW is an 8 mm plastic chain with red and white links alternating in sections, so it stands out on asphalt as well as in front of a building.

Sold by the metre

The price is per metre, and the quantity in the cart is the number of metres. One metre weighs 0.1 kg, so even 30 m of chain is easy to carry by hand. For long runs there is also the V1-801 roll, with 25 m of 8 mm red-white chain.

Material

The chain is made of polyethylene (PE). It does not rust and is much lighter than a metal chain.

How to attach it

Thread it through the holes of portable posts such as the ATO 4065 or ATO 4095, or through the rings of the ATD 7580 steel bollard. On cones it hangs from the ATZ 101A hook fitted into the cone tip, and the chain ends are secured with the ATZ 330A hook.

How much chain you need

Measure the distance from the first post to the last and add about 10%, so the chain hangs slightly between posts rather than being pulled tight. For a 20 m lane, order about 22 m.

What the roadworks rules require (Order 1112/411/2000)

SR 1848-1:2024 provides the polyethylene garland or chain (V1) in built-up areas, to mark off works lengthwise. The methodological rules approved by Order MI/MT no. 1112/411/2000 require the contractor, among other things, to set up dedicated pedestrian corridors on the carriageway when the works take up the pavement. Marking off the work zone belongs to the signing that marks the works, installed after the advance signing.

The contractor installs the signing to the layout approved by the road authority with the traffic police's agreement, maintains and completes it for the whole job and removes it at the end; accidents caused by incomplete or missing temporary signing are entirely the contractor's responsibility.
