Types of road marking paint from our offer

1. Single-Component Road Marking Paint

This is a solvent-based acrylic paint with MMA resin (methyl methacrylate), ideal for marking all types of urban and interurban roads, as well as for parking lots. This type of road marking paint should not be applied over old markings made with alkyd resins.

Application and drying: It is applied by spraying, with a recommended layer thickness of 350-800 microns. Drying occurs quickly through solvent evaporation.
Reflectivity: It becomes reflective by adding glass beads directly onto the freshly sprayed surface.

2. Two-Component Road Marking Paint

Formulated with MMA resin, the two-component paint represents the ideal solution for areas with extreme wear, such as pedestrian crossings, stop lines, and artificial bumps in intersections. Excellent adhesion and physical or chemical resistance are achieved through a chemical reaction that occurs when the two components are mixed. This product meets the requirements of the TS EN 1871 and TS EN 1436 standards.

Layer thickness: It is applied in thick layers, ranging from 1 mm to 5 mm, providing durability for several years.

3. Thermoplastic Road Marking Paint

Widely used on highways, express roads, and busy main arteries, this road marking paint is applied hot. The material is melted at temperatures between 180°C and 210°C and applied to asphalt with special equipment. Since it does not contain volatile solvents, it is an environmentally friendly product. Upon request, it can be formulated in accordance with international standards BS 3262 or AASHTO M249.

Record drying: The average drying time is only 4 minutes, allowing for almost instant reopening of traffic.

4. Glass Beads for Reflectivity

Glass beads are the mandatory complementary product for any marking paint. To ensure excellent visibility at night, glass beads are either incorporated into the factory paint composition or sprinkled by spraying immediately after the paint is applied to the asphalt. The high degree of roundness and luster of the beads capture and reflect the light from headlights back to the driver, significantly enhancing road safety.

What is the difference between single-component and two-component paint?

Single-component paint is ready to use and dries by solvent evaporation, making it ideal for quick jobs, parking lots, and secondary roads. Two-component paint requires mixing with a hardener to trigger a chemical reaction. The latter is applied in a much thicker layer (up to 5 mm) and is extremely durable, recommended for pedestrian crossings and heavy traffic areas.

Why is it important to use glass beads on road marking paint?

Without glass beads, plain paint would not be visible at night. These tiny glass beads act like mirrors (retroreflectors): they capture the light emitted by car headlights and send it back to the driver's eyes, making the lines on the asphalt perfectly visible in darkness or rain.

At what temperature is thermoplastic paint for asphalt applied?

Thermoplastic paint is delivered in solid form (blocks or powder) and must be melted in special kettles at high temperatures, between 180°C and 210°C, before being applied to the road. Its major advantage is that it hardens by cooling in just 4 minutes, avoiding traffic blockage.

Can I apply single-component acrylic paint over an old marking?

Yes, it can be applied over old acrylic markings, provided that the surface is well cleaned of dust, oils, or loose paint chips. However, technical specifications prohibit applying solvent-based MMA acrylic paint over old road markings made with alkyd resin-based paints, as adhesion problems may arise.

What thickness should the paint layer have for a durable marking?

The thickness depends on the chosen technology. For classic single-component solvent-based paints, the wet film thickness varies between 350 and 800 microns. In contrast, for structured or high-durability markings (two-component or thermoplastic), the applied layer thickness is much greater, ranging from 1 mm to 5 mm.
