At 0.16 m² per tile, the 40 x 40 cm format covers almost twice as much as a 30 x 30 cm one. It suits wide routes and large warning areas in stations, airports, public transport stops or in front of public buildings.

What each tile says
The parallel ribs of the guidance tiles show the direction of travel, and the domes of the warning tiles say it is time to stop: a pedestrian crossing, a staircase or the edge of a platform lies ahead. A blind person feels the difference underfoot or with a white cane.
Material and installation
The tiles are made of TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane), 0.8 cm thick, with a non-slip surface. They are bonded with epoxy adhesive, which is not included. Yellow is chosen for grey or dark paving, black for light-coloured floors.
Quantities
6.25 tiles fit in one square metre. A 10 m route, 40 cm wide, means 25 tiles; a 3 m by 40 cm warning strip, 8 tiles. For a whole area, such as a hall or a platform, work out the surface in square metres, multiply by 6.25 and round up. Guidance and warning tiles are the same thickness, so they are bonded side by side.
