The importance of wall protection in garages: Safety and longevity of infrastructure

Garages are more than just parking spaces. They are multifunctional areas where vehicles, equipment, tools, and other essential household items are stored. Despite their important role, garage walls are often exposed to risks that can cause long-term damage. Without adequate protective measures, these walls may face accidental impacts, scratches, and even moisture, which can lead to costly repairs and lost time.

Risk factors for garage walls

Garages are spaces exposed to a variety of risks. In addition to the repeated opening and closing of vehicle doors, which can lead to accidental hits on the walls, other activities such as moving bulky objects or handling heavy equipment can cause scratches and marks on the walls. Furthermore, inadequately ventilated garages are vulnerable to excessive moisture, which can lead to mold growth or structural damage to the walls.

Additionally, large vehicles or cars parked in tight spaces present a higher risk of hitting the walls during parking maneuvers. These small repeated collisions can severely affect the wall structure, leading to the need for frequent repairs or even the replacement of a significant portion of the wall.

Types of wall protections

Wall protection in garages can be achieved through various practical and effective solutions that offer a high degree of safety and protection. Among the most popular options are:

  1. Rubber or foam protections – These solutions are perfect for absorbing shocks and minor impacts caused by vehicle doors or accidentally hit objects. Rubber and foam have the ability to cushion blows, thus protecting both the vehicle and the wall surfaces.

  2. PVC protection panels – These panels are sturdy and durable, designed to protect walls from major impacts. They also provide a neat aesthetic appearance, making them ideal for those who want to maintain a modern look in their garage.

  3. Adhesive protection strips – Easy to install, these strips are applied to the wall surface and provide protection against scratches and minor impacts. They are a quick and effective solution to prevent damage to garage walls.

  4. Metal protection plates – For maximum protection against strong impacts, metal plates are an excellent choice. They are resistant to damage and are ideal for garages frequently used for activities involving heavy equipment.

Advantages of garage wall protection

The main benefits of installing wall protections are the prevention of damage and the reduction of long-term maintenance costs. Repairing damaged walls can be costly, and prevention is always a more cost-effective solution. Wall protection allows for the maintenance of a clean, tidy, and well-kept space, an essential aspect for any household.

Moreover, protecting the walls contributes to increasing property value. A well-maintained garage reflects care for the home and is an attractive point in the event of a potential sale. Additionally, these protection solutions not only protect the walls but also the vehicles or equipment in the garage, thus avoiding damage they might suffer in the event of accidental collisions.

Installing wall protections

Installing wall protections is a simple process that does not require special skills. Before applying the protection solutions, it is important to ensure that the walls are clean and dry. This will allow for optimal adhesion, especially in the case of adhesive solutions.

Protection products, whether rubber plates, PVC, or adhesive strips, are designed for easy installation, and most do not require special tools. The installation instructions are clear and straightforward, making wall protection in the garage accessible to anyone.

Conclusion

Protecting the walls in the garage is an essential step in maintaining a functional and well-kept space. With the modern solutions available, not only will you protect the garage from damage, but you will also add an extra layer of safety and aesthetics to this important space in your home. Preventing damage by installing the right wall protections helps you save time and money, keeping the garage in excellent condition in the long run.

Legal guarantee

Minimum two-year legal guarantee protection for goods sold in the European Union.

Consumers can claim their rights under the legal guarantee of conformity, for example if goods:

  • do not match the description;
  • do not function as intended.

Sellers are liable for any lack of conformity which existed when the goods were delivered, and which becomes apparent within the legal guarantee period. Sellers in such a situation are required to offer:

  • free repair or free replacement;
  • in some cases, a price reduction or full reimbursement.

Some countries have a longer legal guarantee period. For second-hand goods, a shorter period may apply, but not less than one year.

What to do if you receive non-conforming goods:

  1. Contact the seller as soon as possible to report the issue;
  2. Provide proof of purchase, such as a receipt, invoice, or bank statement.

Sellers and producers may also offer commercial guarantees, which apply independently from the legal guarantee. For example, you may see this GARAN label representing a commercial guarantee of durability offered by the producer at no additional cost and covering the entire good.
