PVC traffic cone, 70 cm
At 70 cm the cone can be seen from a distance, over car bonnets. It is the right height for roadworks on the carriageway, diverting traffic from a lane and closing off longer stretches of road or car park.
Construction
The body is flexible orange PVC with 2 white honeycomb reflective bands. The base is octagonal, 38 x 38 cm, wider than on the 50 cm cone, which gives it a steadier footing.

To close a lane over 30 m with a cone every 3 m, you need 11 cones. In total, that is just over 25 kg of cones.

What the roadworks rules require (Order 1112/411/2000)
SR 1848-1:2024 provides the traffic cone (V6) to protect freshly applied markings, to mark off small works and to sign police crews at accident scenes. In a work-zone signing layout, cones belong to the signing that marks the works, together with barrier boards and markers, installed after the advance signing. The methodological rules approved by Order MI/MT no. 1112/411/2000 require temporary signing to be retroreflective at night wherever the existing signing is. Compared with the 2011 edition, SR 1848-1:2024 specifies orange instead of red for the V6 cone, and this cone is orange.
The contractor installs the signing to the layout approved by the road authority with the traffic police's agreement, maintains and completes it for the whole job and removes it at the end; accidents caused by incomplete or missing temporary signing are entirely the contractor's responsibility.
