Product description

U27 Temporary Sign – Detour Route Ahead (Right), 80x120 cm, Class II

The 80x120 cm yellow panel that announces, 500 m ahead, that the road is closed and shows the detour route on the right, with class II prismatic sheeting. It gives drivers time to prepare for the diversion before the junction.

Why class II

On national roads and lit streets, permanent signing is often class II, and SR 1848-2 requires temporary signs on the same section to have at least the same class. Class II (RA2) prismatic sheeting returns three to four times more light than class I and has a guaranteed 10-year service life, so the sign can be used on one site after another.

Where it goes, under SR 1848-1:2024

It is used when traffic is diverted onto detour routes that meet the requirements for roads open to public traffic. The panel can show the image of a prohibition or restriction sign (C1–C9, C11, C13–C20); this one shows the C1 (No entry), with the detour route on the right and a distance of 500 m.

What the roadworks rules require (Order 1112/411/2000)

When traffic is diverted, the rules require the signing to start with the signs that mark out the diversion route, and only then the prohibition signs at the ends of the work section. The approval file also includes a sketch of the detour routes, with the direction signing for the diverted traffic. Here too, the rules require signs to be stood on the ground first, to check that they are clearly visible, and only then fixed to a support; no more than two signs go on the same support or side by side, and on one-way roads or bends they can be repeated on the left side or above the road.

On public roads, works are signed under the methodological rules approved by Order MI/MT no. 1112/411/2000. The road closure or traffic restriction is approved by the road authority, with the traffic police's agreement, on the basis of a signing layout endorsed as final, a copy of which the contractor keeps at the work site. The contractor installs, completes and maintains the signing for the whole job, removes it at the end and restores the original signing; accidents caused by incomplete or missing temporary signing are entirely the contractor's responsibility.

At night, if the existing signing on the road is retroreflective, the temporary signing must be retroreflective too and can be supplemented with flashing or sequential (“cascade”) amber lamps; on main and connecting streets in towns, retroreflective temporary signs are supplemented with flashing amber lamps.

? Frequently asked questions

Where does it go?

It is used when traffic is diverted onto detour routes that meet the requirements for roads open to public traffic. The panel can show the image of a prohibition or restriction sign (C1–C9, C11, C13–C20); this one shows the C1 (No entry), with the detour route on the right and a distance of 500 m.

In what order is diversion signing installed?

First the signs that mark out the diversion route, then the prohibition signs at the ends of the work section, so drivers never reach the closed road without the detour already signed.

How does it differ from the class I sheeting version?

It is larger than the U27d: 80x120 cm instead of 65x85 cm, and the class II (RA2) prismatic sheeting returns three to four times more light, with a guaranteed 10-year service life instead of 7.

When must class II sheeting be used for temporary signing?

SR 1848-2 requires temporary signs to have at least the retroreflection class of the permanent signing on that section. If the existing signs are class II, the temporary ones must be at least class II too. In areas with many light sources (street lighting, shop windows, advertising), the standard requires prismatic class 2 or 3 sheeting anyway.

Which fixings come with it?

The pack holds 2 clamps for Ø48 mm posts and 4 bolts with nuts. Clamps for Ø60 mm posts are available on request.

Who is responsible for the work-zone signing?

The contractor. Under Order MI/MT no. 1112/411/2000, the contractor installs the signing to the layout approved by the road authority with the traffic police's agreement, keeps a copy of the approval and the layout at the work site, maintains and completes the signing for the whole job and removes it at the end. Accidents caused by incomplete or missing temporary signing are entirely the contractor's responsibility.

Legal guarantee

Minimum two-year legal guarantee protection for goods sold in the European Union.

Consumers can claim their rights under the legal guarantee of conformity, for example if goods:

  • do not match the description;
  • do not function as intended.

Sellers are liable for any lack of conformity which existed when the goods were delivered, and which becomes apparent within the legal guarantee period. Sellers in such a situation are required to offer:

  • free repair or free replacement;
  • in some cases, a price reduction or full reimbursement.

Some countries have a longer legal guarantee period. For second-hand goods, a shorter period may apply, but not less than one year.

For more information on your rights in a specific country, scan the QR code below or ask the seller. europa.eu/youreurope/guarantees

What to do if you receive non-conforming goods:

  1. Contact the seller as soon as possible to report the issue;
  2. Provide proof of purchase, such as a receipt, invoice, or bank statement.

Sellers and producers may also offer commercial guarantees, which apply independently from the legal guarantee. For example, you may see this GARAN label representing a commercial guarantee of durability offered by the producer at no additional cost and covering the entire good.
