A45 Directional Marker – Pass on the Right, 25x100 cm, Class II
The A45 marker with class II prismatic sheeting flags an obstacle passed on the right, such as the end of a central divider. Its bars show up better at night than on the class I version of the same size.
Why class II
The difference from class I shows at night: class II (RA2) prismatic sheeting returns three to four times more light, and the gap grows when the sign is mounted at the side, far from the centre of the road. On lit streets with shop windows and advertising, SR 1848-2 requires prismatic class 2 or 3 sheeting. The standard guarantees a 10-year service life for class II sheeting, three years more than for class I.
Where it goes, under SR 1848-1:2024
It is used on roads where obstacles that must be passed around need to be marked. The slanted bars slope down towards the part of the carriageway used to pass the obstacle. It is usually installed together with the D5 “Pass” sign, here the pass-on-the-right version, for example the D5a_II.
