Product description

A46 Two-Way Directional Marker, 37.5x100 cm, Class II

The A46 two-way marker with class II prismatic sheeting goes on an obstacle that can be passed on either side, such as the nose of an island where the road splits. It is the same size as the class I version, with brighter sheeting.

Why class II

Class II means RA2 prismatic sheeting, which sends back three to four times more light than class I sheeting. It matters on fast roads and wherever the sign is seen at an angle, and in areas with street lighting, shop windows and advertising SR 1848-2 explicitly requires it, alongside class 3. The sheeting has a guaranteed 10-year service life.

Where it goes, under SR 1848-1:2024

It is used on roads where obstacles that must be passed around need to be marked. The slanted bars slope down towards both sides of the carriageway that can be used to pass. It is usually installed together with the D6 “Pass either side” sign.

? Frequently asked questions

Where does it go?

It is used on roads where obstacles that must be passed around need to be marked. The slanted bars slope down towards both sides of the carriageway that can be used to pass. It is usually installed together with the D6 “Pass either side” sign.

How does it differ from the class I sheeting version?

It is the same size as the A46, but with class II (RA2) prismatic sheeting, which returns three to four times more light and has a guaranteed 10-year service life instead of 7.

When is class II sheeting mandatory?

SR 1848-2 requires prismatic class 2 or 3 sheeting in areas with many light sources: street lighting, shop windows, advertising, dense urban areas. Elsewhere, class II is chosen for better visibility on fast roads and where the sign is seen at an angle.

Which fixings come with it?

The pack holds 3 clamps for Ø48 mm posts and 6 bolts with nuts. Clamps for Ø60 mm posts are available on request, a better fit for large signs or windy locations.

Which post should I order?

The post is ordered separately. For a fixed installation in a concrete foundation: the galvanised Ø48 mm post, 300 cm. For temporary use, with no foundation: the Ø48 mm tripod post, 120 cm. On concrete or paving, where you cannot dig: the Ø60 mm flange post, 300 cm, bolted down, for which you ask for the Ø60 mm clamps when you order.

Is the marker CE marked?

Yes. It is CE marked and complies with SR EN 12899-1:2007, the European standard for vertical road signs, and with SR 1848-1:2024, SR 1848-2:2011 and SR 1848-3:2011. The sheeting and the paint resist UV and weathering.

Text of the notice

Legal guarantee

Minimum two-year legal guarantee protection for goods sold in the European Union.

Consumers can claim their rights under the legal guarantee of conformity, for example if goods:

  • do not match the description;
  • do not function as intended.

Sellers are liable for any lack of conformity which existed when the goods were delivered, and which becomes apparent within the legal guarantee period. Sellers in such a situation are required to offer:

  • free repair or free replacement;
  • in some cases, a price reduction or full reimbursement.

Some countries have a longer legal guarantee period. For second-hand goods, a shorter period may apply, but not less than one year.

For more information on your rights in a specific country, scan the QR code below or ask the seller. europa.eu/youreurope/guarantees

What to do if you receive non-conforming goods:

  1. Contact the seller as soon as possible to report the issue;
  2. Provide proof of purchase, such as a receipt, invoice, or bank statement.

Sellers and producers may also offer commercial guarantees, which apply independently from the legal guarantee. For example, you may see this GARAN label representing a commercial guarantee of durability offered by the producer at no additional cost and covering the entire good.
