Product description

G31 Information Sign – Parking, 50x65 cm, Class II

The white letter P on a blue background, in the 50x65 cm format with class II prismatic sheeting. It shows where parking is allowed, and the brighter sheeting makes it easy to find at night, at roadside car parks or among town lights.

Why class II

The difference from class I shows at night: class II (RA2) prismatic sheeting returns three to four times more light, and the gap grows when the sign is mounted at the side, far from the centre of the road. On lit streets with shop windows and advertising, SR 1848-2 requires prismatic class 2 or 3 sheeting. The standard guarantees a 10-year service life for class II sheeting, three years more than for class I.

Where it goes, under SR 1848-1:2024

It goes before places intended for parking or waiting. The bottom part of the sign can carry an arrow towards the car park and, if needed, the distance; a car symbol showing how to park relative to the kerb (alongside, lengthwise or at right angles); the paid parking symbol; a text such as “Reserved for vehicles with a permit” or “CD”; or the silhouette of the vehicle category the parking is reserved for. If the bottom part is taken by the arrow or the car symbol, the other information moves to the P14 (vehicle categories) and P15 or P16 (paid parking) additional panels.

As a general rule, information signs go in the area of the place they point out. If the place needs to be announced in advance, an identical sign is used, at least 50 m before it in built-up areas and at least 150 m before it outside them, with the distance written at the bottom or on the P1 additional panel.

Mounting and size

Fixings for the post are included: 2 clamps for Ø48 mm posts and 4 bolts with nuts; clamps for Ø60 mm posts are available on request. The bottom edge of the sign goes 1.50–2.50 m above the road or kerb, and the edge nearest the road 0.50–2.0 m from the road platform.

The post is ordered separately. For a fixed installation in a concrete foundation: the galvanised Ø48 mm post, 300 cm. For temporary use, with no foundation: the Ø48 mm tripod post, 120 cm. On concrete or paving, where you cannot dig: the Ø60 mm flange post, 300 cm, bolted down; for it, ask for the Ø60 mm clamps when you order.

SR 1848-2 sets a single size for this sign, with a 50x65 cm size; the class I sheeting version, the same size, is the G31.

? Frequently asked questions

Where does it go?

It goes before places intended for parking or waiting. The bottom part of the sign can carry an arrow towards the car park and, if needed, the distance; a car symbol showing how to park relative to the kerb (alongside, lengthwise or at right angles); the paid parking symbol; a text such as “Reserved for vehicles with a permit” or “CD”; or the silhouette of the vehicle category the parking is reserved for. If the bottom part is taken by the arrow or the car symbol, the other information moves to the P14 (vehicle categories) and P15 or P16 (paid parking) additional panels.

How does it differ from the class I sheeting version?

It is the same size as the G31, but with class II (RA2) prismatic sheeting, which returns three to four times more light and has a guaranteed 10-year service life instead of 7.

When is class II sheeting mandatory?

SR 1848-2 requires prismatic class 2 or 3 sheeting in areas with many light sources: street lighting, shop windows, advertising, dense urban areas. Elsewhere, class II is chosen for better visibility on fast roads and where the sign is seen at an angle.

Which fixings come with it?

The pack holds 2 clamps for Ø48 mm posts and 4 bolts with nuts. Clamps for Ø60 mm posts are available on request, a better fit for windy locations.

What information can be added under the P?

The standard allows, at the bottom: an arrow towards the car park, with the distance; the car symbol showing the parking position; the paid parking symbol; a “Reserved” type text; or the vehicle category silhouette. If that space is taken, the information moves to the P14 and P15 or P16 additional panels mounted under the sign.

Does it need to be announced in advance?

If needed, yes: with an identical sign, at least 50 m before in built-up areas and at least 150 m before outside them, with the distance written at the bottom or on the P1 additional panel.

Is the sign CE marked?

Yes. It is CE marked and complies with SR EN 12899-1:2007, the European standard for vertical road signs, and with SR 1848-1:2024, SR 1848-2:2011 and SR 1848-3:2011. The sheeting and the paint resist UV and weathering.

Text of the notice

Legal guarantee

Minimum two-year legal guarantee protection for goods sold in the European Union.

Consumers can claim their rights under the legal guarantee of conformity, for example if goods:

  • do not match the description;
  • do not function as intended.

Sellers are liable for any lack of conformity which existed when the goods were delivered, and which becomes apparent within the legal guarantee period. Sellers in such a situation are required to offer:

  • free repair or free replacement;
  • in some cases, a price reduction or full reimbursement.

Some countries have a longer legal guarantee period. For second-hand goods, a shorter period may apply, but not less than one year.

For more information on your rights in a specific country, scan the QR code below or ask the seller. europa.eu/youreurope/guarantees

What to do if you receive non-conforming goods:

  1. Contact the seller as soon as possible to report the issue;
  2. Provide proof of purchase, such as a receipt, invoice, or bank statement.

Sellers and producers may also offer commercial guarantees, which apply independently from the legal guarantee. For example, you may see this GARAN label representing a commercial guarantee of durability offered by the producer at no additional cost and covering the entire good.
