The V12-30 is the large paddle, with a Ø30 cm disc, for situations where the signal has to be seen from a distance: a long stretch with alternating traffic, a road with higher speeds or a junction controlled by hand. One face has red reflective film, the other green, with no lettering.
The flagger holds the paddle with the red face towards drivers who must stop and turns it to green when they may go. Paddles are used to direct traffic and to warn road users of a hazard.
At works on county and local roads, where heavy machinery leaves a site, at accidents or at events with directed traffic.
For a lighter paddle with GO and STOP lettering, see the V12-20, Ø20 cm and 0.3 kg.
SR 1848-1:2024 provides signal paddles (V12) for places where traffic is controlled by traffic marshals. The methodological rules approved by Order MI/MT no. 1112/411/2000 accept traffic marshals as one of the three systems for alternating traffic, chosen by traffic volume and section length, which cannot exceed 1,200 m. The same rules state that a warning flag is used only to warn of a hazard and never to impose priority; to stop and release traffic, the marshal uses the paddle.
The contractor installs the signing to the layout approved by the road authority with the traffic police's agreement, maintains and completes it for the whole job and removes it at the end; accidents caused by incomplete or missing temporary signing are entirely the contractor's responsibility.

The contractor. Under Order MI/MT no. 1112/411/2000, the contractor installs the signing to the layout approved by the road authority with the traffic police's agreement, keeps a copy of the approval and the layout at the work site, maintains and completes the signing for the whole job and removes it at the end. Accidents caused by incomplete or missing temporary signing are entirely the contractor's responsibility.
