The A27 announces traffic lights where drivers would not expect them, for example on a road outside a built-up area.
In built-up areas it goes before each set of traffic lights only if space allows and the previous lights or junction are more than 1,000 m away. Outside built-up areas it goes at least 100 m before each set of lights.
For national roads there is also a 90 cm version with class II sheeting, the A27_II.
The pack also holds clamps for Ø48 mm posts and bolts with nuts for mounting on a post; clamps for Ø60 mm posts are available on request. The correct height, measured at the bottom edge, is 1.50–2.50 m above the road or kerb, and the sign stands 0.50–2.0 m from the edge of the road platform. Choose a spot where it can be seen from 50 m in built-up areas and from 100 m on roads outside them.
The 70 cm triangle is the normal format in SR 1848-2, meant for county and local roads, streets and private roads open to public traffic. National roads call for large 90 cm signs, and motorways for very large 120 cm ones.
In built-up areas it goes before each set of traffic lights only if space allows and the previous lights or junction are more than 1,000 m away. Outside built-up areas it goes at least 100 m before each set of lights.
Yes. 70 cm is the normal format in SR 1848-2, required on county and local roads, streets and private roads open to public traffic. National roads call for 90 cm and motorways for 120 cm. The 90 cm version with class II sheeting is the A27_II.
The bottom edge goes 1.50–2.50 m above the road or kerb, and the inner edge 0.50–2.0 m from the road platform. The pack holds clamps for Ø48 mm posts and bolts with nuts; clamps for Ø60 mm posts are available on request.
The sheeting is class I (RA1), with a 7-year service life. Under SR 1848-2, during that time retroreflection stays at no less than 80% of the initial minimum value and the sheeting stays bonded over at least 95% of the surface.
Outside built-up areas, yes, at least 100 m before them. In built-up areas, only if space allows and the previous lights or junction are more than 1,000 m away.
