The panel with three red arrowheads and a fluorescent yellow-green border that marks very tight bends, with a class II prismatic face and a class 3 fluorescent border. It is the high-visibility version of the signing for particularly dangerous bends, for roads where vehicles have run off before.
The panel combines two sheetings: the face is class II (RA2) prismatic sheeting, which returns roughly three to four times more light to the driver than class I sheeting, and the 10 cm border is fluorescent yellow-green class 3 sheeting, the colour SR 1848-1:2024 requires for special situations. Fluorescent sheeting stands out in daylight too, in dull weather or at dusk, not only in headlights. SR 1848-2 guarantees a 10-year service life for classes 2 and 3.
It goes on bends with a radius under 200 m and an angle between the straights under 120°, perpendicular to the line marking the middle of the lane (on roads with one lane each way) or to the extension of the line separating the lanes in the same direction (on roads with two lanes each way). The arrowheads show the direction of the bend. Together with the A5 (Particularly dangerous bend) and this panel, at least three L7 successive chevron panels must be installed on the outside of the bend.
SR 1848-1:2024 reserves panels with a fluorescent yellow-green retroreflective background, class 3, for places that are particularly dangerous. Such a panel can carry a single sign, a group of two signs or signs with additional panels.
Fixings for the post are included: 4 clamps for Ø48 mm posts and 8 bolts with nuts; clamps for Ø60 mm posts are available on request. The bottom edge of the panel goes 1.50–2.50 m above the road or kerb, and the edge nearest the road 0.50–2.0 m from the road platform.
The post is ordered separately. For a fixed installation in a concrete foundation: the galvanised Ø48 mm post, 300 cm. For temporary use, with no foundation: the Ø48 mm tripod post, 120 cm. On concrete or paving, where you cannot dig: the Ø60 mm flange post, 300 cm, bolted down; for it, ask for the Ø60 mm clamps when you order.
The 170x70 cm size with a 10 cm border is the one SR 1848-2 sets for the bordered particularly dangerous bend panel; the version without a border, 150x50 cm, is the A5. The version with a class I face is the L6.
The face is class II (RA2) prismatic sheeting, and the 10 cm border is class 3 fluorescent yellow-green retroreflective sheeting, as SR 1848-1:2024 requires for signing special situations. For classes 2 and 3, SR 1848-2 guarantees a 10-year service life.
The bend is signed with the A5 (Particularly dangerous bend) and this panel, and at least three L7 successive chevron panels must go on its outside, with the arrowhead pointing in the direction of the bend.
The A5 measures 150x50 cm and has no border. The L6 measures 170x70 cm and has a 10 cm fluorescent yellow-green border, which makes it far more visible, day and night, on high-risk bends.
The pack holds 4 clamps for Ø48 mm posts and 8 bolts with nuts. Clamps for Ø60 mm posts are available on request.
