Product description

L8 Panel – Pedestrian Crossing, 85x85 cm, Class II

The pedestrian crossing sign in its high-visibility version: an 85x85 cm blue square with a class II prismatic face and a 10 cm border in class 3 fluorescent yellow-green sheeting. It is used at crossings where drivers must see as early as possible that pedestrians may appear, for example near schools or on roads running through villages.

Class II with a class 3 fluorescent border

The panel combines two sheetings: the face is class II (RA2) prismatic sheeting, which returns roughly three to four times more light to the driver than class I sheeting, and the 10 cm border is fluorescent yellow-green class 3 sheeting, the colour SR 1848-1:2024 requires for special situations. Fluorescent sheeting stands out in daylight too, in dull weather or at dusk, not only in headlights. SR 1848-2 guarantees a 10-year service life for classes 2 and 3.

Where it goes, under SR 1848-1:2024

It goes under the same conditions as the G1 (Pedestrian crossing): immediately before the crossing, level with the transverse stop line marked before the crossing stripes. SR 1848-1:2024 provides it to improve road safety, because the fluorescent yellow-green retroreflective border gives better visibility both by day and at night.

SR 1848-1:2024 reserves panels with a fluorescent yellow-green retroreflective background, class 3, for places that are particularly dangerous. Such a panel can carry a single sign, a group of two signs or signs with additional panels.

Mounting and size

Fixings for the post are included: 2 clamps for Ø48 mm posts and 4 bolts with nuts; clamps for Ø60 mm posts are available on request. The bottom edge of the panel goes 1.50–2.50 m above the road or kerb, and the edge nearest the road 0.50–2.0 m from the road platform.

The post is ordered separately. For a fixed installation in a concrete foundation: the galvanised Ø48 mm post, 300 cm. For temporary use, with no foundation: the Ø48 mm tripod post, 120 cm. On concrete or paving, where you cannot dig: the Ø60 mm flange post, 300 cm, bolted down; for it, ask for the Ø60 mm clamps when you order.

The 85x85 cm size with a 10 cm border is the one SR 1848-2 sets for the bordered pedestrian crossing sign; the standard sign measures 65x65 cm (in class II: the G1_II). The version with a class I face is the L8.

? Frequently asked questions

Where does it go?

It goes under the same conditions as the G1 (Pedestrian crossing): immediately before the crossing, level with the transverse stop line marked before the crossing stripes. SR 1848-1:2024 provides it to improve road safety, because the fluorescent yellow-green retroreflective border gives better visibility both by day and at night.

What sheeting does it have?

The face is class II (RA2) prismatic sheeting, and the 10 cm border is class 3 fluorescent yellow-green retroreflective sheeting, as SR 1848-1:2024 requires for signing special situations. For classes 2 and 3, SR 1848-2 guarantees a 10-year service life.

How does it differ from the G1?

The G1 measures 65x65 cm and has no border. The L8 measures 85x85 cm and has a 10 cm fluorescent yellow-green border that draws attention by day too, not only at night. It goes in the same places, where the crossing needs to stand out more.

How do I announce the crossing in advance?

With the A22 warning sign (Pedestrian crossing ahead), installed before the crossing; in class II and the 90 cm format, that is the A22_II.

Which fixings come with it?

The pack holds 2 clamps for Ø48 mm posts and 4 bolts with nuts. Clamps for Ø60 mm posts are available on request.

Is the panel CE marked?

Yes. It is CE marked and complies with SR EN 12899-1:2007, the European standard for vertical road signs, and with SR 1848-1:2024, SR 1848-2:2011 and SR 1848-3:2011. The sheeting and the paint resist UV and weathering.

Legal guarantee

Minimum two-year legal guarantee protection for goods sold in the European Union.

Consumers can claim their rights under the legal guarantee of conformity, for example if goods:

  • do not match the description;
  • do not function as intended.

Sellers are liable for any lack of conformity which existed when the goods were delivered, and which becomes apparent within the legal guarantee period. Sellers in such a situation are required to offer:

  • free repair or free replacement;
  • in some cases, a price reduction or full reimbursement.

Some countries have a longer legal guarantee period. For second-hand goods, a shorter period may apply, but not less than one year.

For more information on your rights in a specific country, scan the QR code below or ask the seller. europa.eu/youreurope/guarantees

What to do if you receive non-conforming goods:

  1. Contact the seller as soon as possible to report the issue;
  2. Provide proof of purchase, such as a receipt, invoice, or bank statement.

Sellers and producers may also offer commercial guarantees, which apply independently from the legal guarantee. For example, you may see this GARAN label representing a commercial guarantee of durability offered by the producer at no additional cost and covering the entire good.
