Control unit for the V11 mobile traffic light
The control unit is the command centre of each V11 mobile traffic light: it switches the lights on, runs the red-yellow-green cycle, synchronises the two lights and checks the lamps and the battery. Each light in the set has its own unit, so a set has two. As a spare part, you order it when a light's unit has failed or been damaged on site.
Compatibility
It is used with the V11-20 (without countdown) and V11-21 (with countdown) mobile traffic light sets; the countdown is switched on from the unit's menu.
What you set
The front panel has a two-digit display and buttons for on and off, start, stop and time setting, switching to flashing yellow, and raising the values. You set the red time in both directions and the green times for the two phases, from 1 to 99 seconds, or from 5 to 495 seconds in x5 mode. From the menu you choose the unit's phase (1 or 2), how the yellow comes on and the countdown. A reset brings all times back to 10 seconds.
Connections
It has a connector for the signal head and the 12 V power lead. The protection fuse has an indicator on the panel that shows when it has blown.
Synchronisation
The unit keeps time with an internal clock, so the two lights need no cable between them. You synchronise them manually: with the lights side by side and the same times on both units, you press START on both at the same moment. They must be synchronised again at least every 6 days; the battery can be changed at any time without losing it.
What the display shows
At rest, the display shows the unit's phase, F1 or F2. When something goes wrong, it shows a code for a low battery, for a failed red, yellow or green light and for a blown fuse.

Two, because each traffic light in the set has its own control unit. If only one has failed, only that one needs replacing.

How do I set the times?
With the stop and time-setting button you step through the red time in both directions and the green times of the two phases, and you raise the values with the buttons next to the display. Each time runs from 1 to 99 seconds, or from 5 to 495 seconds in x5 mode, and must be the same on both units.
What do the codes on the display mean?
At rest you see the unit's phase, F1 or F2. The other codes warn of a low battery, a failed red, yellow or green light or a blown fuse. If the battery has run flat, you replace it and clear the error with START.
Does a new unit need setting up after fitting?
Yes. The menu settings, that is the yellow mode, the x5 mode and the countdown, must be the same on both units. Only the phase differs: one unit is phase 1, the other phase 2.
