Passing Place Sign, 60x60 cm, Class I

The “Passing place” sign marks the spot where the road widens so that two vehicles can pass each other: a blue square with the road and the widening drawn in white. It is used mainly on forest roads. The sign also reminds drivers of the normative's rule: an unloaded vehicle that meets the passing place in its direction gives way to the loaded one coming the other way.

When class I is used

Class I (RA1) sheeting returns 70 cd/(lx·m²) for white to the driver and has a 7-year service life, enough on roads where headlights are the only light: local, minor and private roads or quiet streets. In areas with street lighting, shop windows, advertising and dense urban traffic, however, SR 1848-2 requires prismatic class 2 or 3 sheeting.

Where it goes

Under normative ID-001-15 (Annex VII, no. 6), it stands 50–100 m before the entrance to the passing place, where two vehicles can pass each other. Passing places are built on single-lane secondary forest roads, 2.75 m wide, and on principal roads too narrow for timber lorries; trunk roads, with two lanes, have none. The post is ordered separately. For a fixed installation in a concrete foundation: the galvanised Ø48 mm post, 300 cm. For temporary use, with no foundation: the Ø48 mm tripod post, 120 cm. On concrete or paving, where you cannot dig: the Ø60 mm flange post, 300 cm, bolted down; for it, ask for the Ø60 mm clamps when you order.

The panel measures 60 x 60 cm and has 2 fixing channels on the back.
