B1 Priority Sign – Give Way, 90 cm, Class II
This 90 cm B1 has the normal format size but class II prismatic sheeting. It suits junctions on lit streets, where the upside-down triangle has to stand out from shop windows, advertising and headlights.
Why class II
Class II (RA2) prismatic sheeting returns roughly three to four times more headlight to the driver than class I sheeting, so the sign can be seen from further away at night and stays legible when viewed at an angle. SR 1848-2 requires prismatic class 2 or 3 sheeting in areas with many light sources, such as streets with public lighting, shop windows and advertising, where a class I sign gets lost in the background. Class II sheeting has a guaranteed 10-year service life, against 7 years for class I.
Where it goes, under SR 1848-1:2024
It goes on the minor public road or cycle track, at junctions with good visibility, or where a cycle track or cycle road meets the carriageway. The sign requires drivers to slow down enough to give way to vehicles on the road they are approaching and, if needed, to stop before its edge. If the priority road changes direction at the junction, the P20 additional panel (“Direction of the priority road”) goes under the sign.
At junctions, signs on the minor roads are placed so that their face cannot be seen from the priority road. At acute-angle junctions the sign is set back from the edge of the priority road; if it stands more than 10 m back, the P4 additional panel with the distance goes under it.

The post is ordered separately. For a fixed installation in a concrete foundation: the galvanised Ø48 mm post, 300 cm. For temporary use, with no foundation: the Ø48 mm tripod post, 120 cm. On concrete or paving, where you cannot dig: the Ø60 mm flange post, 300 cm, bolted down; for it, ask for the Ø60 mm clamps when you order.
The 90 cm side is the normal format in SR 1848-2, for county and local roads and streets; national roads call for the large 120 cm format: the B1_II.

SR 1848-2 requires prismatic class 2 or 3 sheeting in areas with many light sources: street lighting, shop windows, advertising, dense urban areas. Elsewhere, class II is chosen for better visibility on fast roads and where the sign is seen at an angle.

The pack holds 2 clamps for Ø48 mm posts and 4 bolts with nuts. Clamps for Ø60 mm posts are available on request, a better fit for large signs or windy locations.
